What is the ‘Bird Backer Program?
The ‘Bird Backer program is an avenue for alumni, friends, family and the greater community to be part of our Thunderbird team. With your generous contribution we can continue our commitment to excellence, and turn today’s student athletes into tomorrow’s community leaders.
Why Should I Be a ‘Bird Backer?
Great varsity programs are built with the help of great supporters. Being a UBC student athlete requires a significant commitment of time and energy throughout the entire academic year. As a department, UBC Athletics is committed to offering our athletes a great experience where they can focus on academics and athletics, leaving little time for part-time employment. The ‘Bird Backer program is one tool that helps ease the financial burden on our student athletes.
Where Does My Donation Go?
Dollars raised through the ‘Bird Backer program directly benefit the student athletes. Funds will be utilized for international travel, meal money, equipment and uniforms - costs that are often levied against the student athletes.
Donor Benefits
Your donation is tax deductible - you will receive a charitable tax receipt for the donated amount. In appreciation of your gift we are able to offer these additional benefits as well as a ‘Bird Backer Membership card.
$25 - $100 Donation
- Subscription to Blue + Gold magazine (UBC Athletics publication will be mailed to you three times per year)
$100 - $299 Donation
- Blue + Gold magazine subscription
- Two tickets to a UBC game of your choice, home or away
$300 - $499 Donation
- Blue + Gold magazine subscription
- Two tickets to every UBC home game of your choice
- A gift (hat or t-shirt)
$500 - $999 Donation
- Blue + Gold magazine subscription
- Two tickets to every UBC home game of your choice
- A gift (sweatshirt or jacket)
$1,000+ Donation
- Blue + Gold magazine subscription
- Two tickets (reserved seats) to every UBC home game of your choice
