After a 30-year absence, baseball returned to the University of British Columbia in 1997. Since that time, the UBC Baseball program, led by head coach Terry McKaig, has produced impressive results on the field as well as on MLB draft day. UBC has had eleven players drafted by Major League clubs and two former UBC players are currently playing professional baseball. The Thunderbirds won their first NAIA Region I title in 2003 and won it again in 2005 and 2006. The Thunderbirds play their home games at Nat Bailey Stadium.
